Who Make It All Happen



Samantha Pretto

Chef Samantha Pretto is in charge of Culinary Operations at The Dark Room. She has expertise in Sauté, Sauces, Pastry, Baking, Charcuterie and Preserves, making a perfect compliment to our culinary program. Ms. Pretto resides in Saint Louis and is also working in conjunction with our in-house Catering Program.

Denise Mueller

Denise Mueller is the Sommelier/General Manager of The Dark Room in Grand Center, and is a Certified Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine. She is also the co-founder of the Mid-American School of Wine, based in Saint Louis, and currently holding its courses at The Dark Room in off hours.

Ms. Mueller has a degree in Mass Communications and Advertising from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUe). She also participates as an active member of the United States Bartenders Guild (USBG-STL) and is an active member of the St. Louis branch of the American Wine Society, participating as an event instructor.

In her “Spare Time,” Denise enjoys running Tower Grove Park, experiencing new restaurants in new neighborhoods, finding the areas greatest new bartenders and sommeliers, and relaxing at home with her Chihuahuas Maximus and Katharine Hepburn.
